Keen readers may know that Carlo Riva and Bonfanti Tessuti are the remaining shirting mills producing 90 cm "narrow width" fabric on shuttle looms. Despite the divergence since the split, the two mills still make some very special qualities including "twill su base voile" in around 170/2 (Bonfanti Tessuti) to 180/2 (Carlo Riva) and various interesting cotton linen mixes (namely, Lino Oxford & Lino Arsenal by Carlo Riva, "Positano" by Bonfanti Tessuti).
This figure shows the original price. For the discounted price, the reader is advised to directly approach the mill owner, Mr Giancarlo Bonfanti. |
Currently, Bonfanti Tessuti is running a promotion on their Sea Island stock. A number of articles in pure WISICA Sea Island cotton and the "Positano" linen mix are available at very attractive prices. From what @shirtingfantasy understands, a Mainland China buyer has pledged to take most if not all of the stock. So shirting enthusiasts - act fast!
Mr Giancarlo Bonfanti may be reached at their web contact page https://www.bonfantitessuti.com/bt20/contact-us/, or via Instagram message (https://www.instagram.com/bonfantitessuti/?hl=en). To avoid spamming, his WhatsApp / personal email is not posted here.
As for Carlo Riva, according to trade information available to @shirtingfantasy, a new price list for their "Coffer" (the Golden bunch) has been released and will be effective 1 May 2022. The most expensive variant (per linear metre) is their pure linen in 150 cm width (a little bewildering as to why they would join the 150 cm bandwagon at this point), and the most economical offering remains their Voile Tela, followed by Voile Twill (presumably due to the lower yarn density).
@shirtingfantasy's city has recently been severely hit by COVID-19 - sorry for this rather brief report!
Please stay safe.
Until then, goodbye!
