Following my review of their shirts, I solicited a reply from Camiceria Piccolo. In Lorenzo's reply, he responded to certain points raised in my review. In any case, I believe it is important to allow a shop/ business owner to explain or clarify freely certain product features or design decisions which I, as a customer, may misunderstand or misperceive from the limited interactions we had during the bespoke appointments and the limited number of garments I sampled. His reply, therefore, is posted here in its original, unaltered form to help inform the reader.

Dear Tom,

I read your review, thank you.

I know Anna Matuozzo shirts and I think the quality is not so far from our shirts, and thicker decorative stitches are something that we don’t like but a client can ask for that effect, and the price is still the same, not 400 euros as she asks. That price is not justified for the product she makes. The stripes on the shoulder could be matched better but this is something that we ask to our employees.

Usually for our clients who live here in Milan or Naples we make their own pattern and we try it until it is perfect. After that we keep it for the future orders. But unfortunately it needs time and when you came we had only one day.

I hope to satisfy your future requests and adjustments from your pattern in order to make you happy at 100%.

Best regards,

Lorenzo Piccolo

For my next order, I will probably ask for the thick decorative stitches (which they just don't like) and let them try matching the stripes (which they have tried) on the shoulder again. As for the fitting issue, I am going to keep the pattern in its current form - virtual fitting for shoulder slope adjustment is a risky business, and I am actually happy enough with the current fit to keep the status quo. It will only be adjusted if I go to Milan to visit Lorenzo and his shop again.

P.S. My friend Jackson Poon suggested me to put more photos of me wearing my shirts to let people see the fit. While I, in principle, disagree with the rationale behind the suggestion, I nevertheless decided to follow his advice to allow a potential increase in network traffic of the blog.

The back. The fabric of this shirt is a 180/2 cotton poplin - so wrinkles are natural and expected - if not outright desirable.

The slim sleeve is actually quite evident. Not something the local shirt-maker usually makes.

Until then, goodbye!
